PET PORTRAITS BY SHANNON ABBEY

    how it works

    My Custom Portrait Process

It's super easy and fun to commission a portrait of your pet!

Once you place your order, all you need to do is send me photos of your cat or dog.

Please keep in mind, this is not a copy of a photograph. This is a one of a kind piece of Fine Art. I want to get to know your little buddy.  More is better. If you have an assortment of pictures, send them all.

Using your photos as reference, at some point in the process, it's as if your pet comes to me. It's happened over and over.

Pastel Portraits from your photos - $400 + tax and shipping

    Let's Get Started

    How to photograph your pet

    • PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR PET
    • 4 EASY STEPS

    • Get in close. Stand face to face with Scruffy. Kneel or lie on the ground,  or they can be standing on the bed or on a table. If taken inside, have your animal near a window.

Step 1 - Get at their eye level

This photo is of a cat waking it's human - by standing on her chest. We've all been there. and....it is a great photo to paint from!

Also, the background doesn't matter. I'm gonna do my thing.

Step 2 -Natural Light source • from left or right

Turn off the flash and stand so the sunlight is coming from the left or right. Squinting is as unflattering for them as it us for us.

    • Now, I get it, my dog Rex hated the camera. If this is the case with you, It may work to have an assistant stand behind you with a favorite ball or treat.

Step 3 - More is better

Once we sign the contract, just start sending me photos. I will coach you as we go!

Often, in my work, a pet has passed and there is no option to take new photos. Just send me all you have.

Step 4 - you get to watch!

I take video as I create these portraits and post them on Instagram and Facebook. Be sure and connect with me on the links below to follow along!

    tricks and tips...

If your pooch or kitty is shy, have someone cuddle them.

    .....Selfie time

    .....Selfie time

Put your critter on your lap and take some selfies. This was at a dog show where I didn't have a lot of time. We went for a little walk and I put her on my lap and took a bunch of snaps. Picture of me - terrible - who cares?

Again, the background doesn't matter. I'm gonna do what I do with it.

    Return and Refund Policy

Of course I want everyone to love their portrait!

    Please remember:

    1.  I am not making a copy of a favorite photo of Scruffy. This is a piece of Fine Art.
    2.  You will be a part of the process.
    3. I will return to the art to make 2 small adjustments to get a likeness.
    4.  I offer no monetary refund but will create a replacement portrait if it is damaged in shipping.  Shannon Abbey • 108 Glendon Way •  Petaluma California • 94952 • U S A
