Shannon Abbey is an illustrator and painter with 25 years experience. She enjoys a quiet life in Petaluma, California with her son and husband, artist Pete McDonnell. She is passionate about environmental issues, and uses painting to create change.
Classically trained in painting at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, Shannon has shown her fine art paintings in California galleries since graduating in 1991. She has shared her talent and knowledge as a small-group and individual art instructor for students of all ages and skill levels, delighting in the progress of kids and adults alike.
Shannon’s illustrations have been commissioned by art directors and event planners for a variety of outlets, from magazines and newspapers to greeting cards and wedding invitations. She founded Best Day Ever Celebration Chalkboards as a sustainable solution for marrying couples to minimize waste and add personalized charm to their event. In addition she collaborates on real-time live chalk art and permanent chalk murals.
In recent years, Shannon has discovered a passion and appreciation for Pet Portraiture. As a devoted dog and guinea pig parent, Shannon captures the love and joy that pets bring to our lives, memorializing their unique spirits even after they’re gone.
